When marking Ljubljana, the committee noticed that the title The European Green Capital 2016 additionally stimulated cycling in the city, the share of cycling has increased, and the infrastructure follows modern guidelines and examples of good practices, which facilitates its further expansion. As a key element, they highlighted the positive promotion of cycling and added that they do predict 20 or even 30 percent increase of the cyclist in the next few years.

A committee of urban planners and architects, united in the international company Copenhagenize design, makes the list of twenty cities with good infrastructure and outlook for cycling development. The first place on “The Copenhagenize Index” was taken by Copenhagen, followed by Utrecht and Amsterdam. “The Dutch capital remains the best place for cycling, but compared to other cities it did not progress so rapidly”, the committee explained. Montreal ended as the last on the scale. The Canadian city on twentieth and Japan’s Tokyo in ninth place are the only non-European cities on the list.
